Porto, Portugal | Fully On-Site | CSD & Capital Markets Infrastructure
Our client is a premier European financial market infrastructure group operating stock exchanges, central securities depositories (CSDs), and clearing houses across Europe. We are seeking a motivated, mid-level Mainframe Application Support Analyst to join their First-Line CSD Operations team on-site in Porto.
In this mission, you will join a multi-site operational environment supporting critical post-trade applications across European CSD hubs (Denmark, Italy, Portugal, Norway). Acting as the primary line of defense, you will monitor production environments, handle alerts/incidents, perform initial technical analysis, and interact with mainframe systems.
This position operates under a 24/7 shift pattern (Mornings, Days, Nights, and Weekends) with full on-site presence in Porto.
- Real-time Monitoring & Alerting: Monitor operational alerts and performance metrics across critical CSD software environments and applications.
- Incident & Request Management: Record, classify, and log operational incidents, events, and service requests within strict SLAs.
- First-Line Technical Analysis: Perform initial technical investigation and root-cause identification using basic Mainframe procedures (JCL, COBOL, DB2).
- Escalation & Collaboration: Coordinate with second-line specialist squads, engineering teams, and shift leaders during complex operational incidents and shift handovers.
- Procedural Execution: Execute batch jobs, operational controls, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure uninterrupted 24/7 market operations.
- Operational Track Record: 1 to 4 years of experience in Application Support (L1/L2), Production Support, IT Operations, or Service Desk within a structured IT environment (Banking, Financial Services, or Managed Services preferred).
- Mainframe Literacy: Fundamental / basic understanding of Mainframe environments, including exposure to JCL, COBOL, or DB2 concepts (expert-level development is not required; ability to read/run basic scripts is essential).
- 24/7 Availability: Full commitment to working within a standard 24/7 rotating shift model (mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends).
- On-Site Presence: Fully available to work 100% on-site at the Porto corporate office (no remote/hybrid option due to operational CSD security standards).
- Soft Skills: High learning agility, operational discipline, reliable communication during critical incidents, and strong accountability.
- Languages: Fluent English is mandatory. Portuguese or French is a plus, but not required.
Why Join This Team?
- Real Internal Progression: Strong culture of internal mobility with clear pathways into L2/L3 specialized engineering, OpenShift cloud operations, or team leadership.
- Structured Training: Side-by-side onboarding and step-by-step mentoring assigned to specific CSD domains.
- Market Exposure: Direct operational experience within the core infrastructure powering European capital markets.
