Job summary

SOFICO Porto is seeking an experienced Java backend engineer to contribute to the Miles platform. You will build and evolve backend services, REST APIs and microservices in a collaborative, product-oriented team.

You will work on translating business requirements into scalable software, shaping the backend architecture and ensuring maintainability and reliability for long-term product evolution in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Java backend development.
• Experience with Spring Boot or Quarkus or similar modern Java frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs and microservices.
• Familiarity with SQL databases and testing (unit/integration).
• Knowledge of modern software practices including Git and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services within Miles architecture.
• Translate complex business requirements into scalable software solutions.
• Develop and evolve REST APIs used by Miles components and integrations.
• Contribute to microservice architecture using Domain-Driven Design where appropriate.
• Collaborate with internal API consumers and external system integrations.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
• Support production systems and troubleshoot issues as needed.
