Job summary

SOFICO, a Belgian software product company, is expanding its Product Engineering team in Porto. We are looking for a Software Engineer to shape Miles' backend through Java services and microservices.

You will translate domain requirements into scalable REST APIs, contribute to event-driven, cloud-native architecture, and own features from design to production. We value maintainability, performance, and long-term product evolution in a collaborative, international environment.

Qualifications

• Professional experience in Java backend development.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design and microservices.
• Experience with SQL databases and data modeling.
• Familiarity with Git and modern software development practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java backend services within Miles.
• Translate complex business requirements into scalable software solutions.
• Develop and evolve REST APIs used by Miles components and integrations.
• Contribute to our microservice architecture and apply Domain-Driven Design where appropriate.
• Collaborate with internal API consumers and external system integrations.
• Work with synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns as needed.
• Own functionality from design through testing, release and production.
• Investigate and resolve issues in existing backend services.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code.
