Job summary

HR Manager position in Portugal (onsite) with an expanding engineering partner. You will report to the COO and lead the Iberian HR strategy, aligning processes with a multinational HR team.

Responsibilities include employee relations, recruitment, rewards, benefits and the rollout of a new HRIS, while developing the local HR team and coaching managers to drive people performance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an HR Manager or senior HR generalist in a fast-paced corporate environment
• Strong ER background and knowledge of employment law (Portuguese law a plus)
• Experience in talent and performance management, succession planning and change management
• CIPD Level 5 minimum; construction/engineering/manufacturing or logistics experience desirable

About the company

Our client is a leading technical engineering and construction partner working across EMEA, the Americas and APAC. They deliver fast-paced turnkey projects in data centres, advanced manufacturing, logistics, food and pharmaceuticals, without compromising on safety or quality.

The role

This is a chance to step into a newly shaped HR Manager role covering the Iberian region and to build the HR function as the business grows. You'll report directly to the COO and act as the key link to an international HR team.

Responsibilities

• Lead the regional HR strategy and operating framework, reviewing and building processes, policies and governance so they're robust, consistent and scalable
• Manage employee relations cases, including disciplinary matters, grievances and absence, using external legal support where needed
• Oversee recruitment, reward and benefits, and engagement, keeping the business competitive in the Portuguese market
• Use HR data and workforce insights to advise senior leadership, and lead the rollout of a new HRIS
• Lead and develop the local HR team, and coach managers to take greater ownership of people management

About you

• Proven experience as an HR Manager or senior HR generalist in a fast-paced corporate environment, ideally with line management experience
• Strong ER background, with a solid grasp of employment law; knowledge of Portuguese employment law is a plus
• Experience in talent and performance management, succession planning and change management
• CIPD Level 5 (minimum); experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing or logistics is desirable
• A confident communicator and problem-solver who works well on their own initiative and handles ambiguity with resilience
