Paymentology in Lisbon, Portugal seeks a Financial Accountant responsible for end-to-end financial accounting across markets, ensuring timely month-end close, statutory and tax compliance, and accurate financial reporting.

You will partner with Commercial Finance, Payroll, AP/AR, Tax and external advisers to deliver high-quality information, drive process improvements, support audits, and enable data-driven business decisions across the global Payments platform.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Experience in financial accounting and statutory reporting.
• Strong understanding of month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience with indirect taxes (VAT/GST) and corporate tax compliance.
• Experience supporting external and internal audits.
• Knowledge of IFRS and statutory reporting requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced Excel and exposure to ERP systems.

Responsabilités

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for assigned markets with accurate reporting.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
• Review and analyse profit and loss and balance sheet movements.
• Ensure compliance with group policies and local statutory requirements.
• Support management reporting packages and analyses.
• Maintain balance sheet integrity via reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
• Ensure governance and internal controls are followed.
• Manage indirect tax compliance (VAT/GST) and corporate tax requirements.
• Coordinate statutory filings and liaise with auditors.
• Provide accounting guidance to stakeholders and support cross-functional finance teams.
• Identify and drive process improvements and automation opportunities.
