Job summary

Bumatic is seeking a founding engineer to enable autonomous operation of robots using multi-sensor fusion, SLAM, and semantic perception. You will join a very early-stage startup with hands-on training and a clear career path, based in the Porto area with 80-100% on-site work.

This role requires a Master’s in robotics or related field, expertise in ROS 2 and perception/navigation systems, and a bias toward practical, production-focused robotics.

Qualifications

Role description

This is a full-time role starting from January 2027 aimed at giving autonomous operation to individual robots by using multi-sensors fusion, navigation, mapping and semantic perception.

• The complete robot's perception and heterogenous signal processing pipeline
• Adaptive SLAM and navigation in unstructured, changing construction environments
• Semantic recognition of structures, materials and obstacles to inform robot behaviours

Ideal background

A successful profile would ideally have:

• A Master's in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related field
• Professional experience delivering perception or navigation systems for autonomous robots or vehicles
• Hands-on experience with ROS 2, SLAM and sensor fusion (experience with computer vision or deep learning is a plus)
