Job summary

Ampleshift in Portugal invites a Systems Engineer for Protection & Automation to join an energy project in the north. You'll design architectures, configure relays and SCADA, and support FAT/SAT and on-site commissioning, working with IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3 and Modbus.

On-site regime: ~70% office/workshop and 30% field with occasional international trips. We welcome early-career engineers with hands-on energy automation experience and a passion for practical, reliable systems that

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in substation automation, protection and control, or renewable energy plant automation (PV, wind, PPC).
• Practical knowledge of IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3 or Modbus.
• Experience configuring SCADA, RTU or gateway systems.
• Nice to have: relay testing with OMICRON, FAT/SAT, protection theory, and French or Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Design substation automation and control system architectures.
• Configure protection relays, IEDs, RTUs, gateways and SCADA systems from scratch.
• Run FAT/SAT and support commissioning on site.
• Work with power utility protocols such as IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3 and Modbus.
• Collaborate with project, engineering and field teams from configuration through to handover.
• On-site regime: ~70% office/workshop and ~30% field work, with occasional international commissioning trips of up to 1–1.5 months.
• Early-career engineers with solid hands-on experience in energy automation are welcome to apply.
