Job summary

Edp Renovaveis Servicios Financieros SA is seeking an Energy Markets Research Analyst for its Global Energy Management (GEM) Research department in Lisbon. You will analyze energy commodity markets globally, report trends, process market data daily, and support management with targeted analyses.

The role requires 1–3 years of relevant experience, fluency in English, and a solid foundation in economics/finance. Travel to events may be required; full-time on-site work in Lisbon.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management, Finance or related field.
• Postgraduate qualification or Master’s studies preferred.
• 1–3 years of experience in energy/finance related roles.
• Fluency in English; Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze fundamentals and evolution of energy commodity markets (electricity, gas, emissions, coal, oil).
• Regularly report on energy market developments and trends.
• Process market data and maintain daily updates.
• Support management with ad hoc analyses and Market Notes.
• Support GEM’s Control and Operations with market data provisions.

Our GEM Research department intends to recruit an Energy Markets Research Analyst.

What will you do:

• Analysis and understanding of the fundamentals and evolution of energy commodity markets (electricity: Europe—with a focus on Southern, Central, Eastern Europe and the UK—USA, Asia, and South America; natural gas; the European emissions market; coal; oil markets; and “new” markets such as batteries and biomethane), as well as foreign exchange and macroeconomics related to all of these, across the variables that constitute the main risk factors for the activity of EDP Group’s Global Energy Management (GEM) area.
• Regular reporting on energy market developments and trends.
• Data processing and monitoring (market data), with daily updates.
• Support to management through ad hoc analyses, specific Research Notes, and technical analysis aimed at identifying business opportunities within GEM’s activity.
• Support to GEM’s Control and Operations areas through the processing and structured provision of market data.

What are we looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree, postgraduate qualification, and Master’s degree or current Master’s studies in Economics, Management, or Finance.
• 1 to 3 years of experience (employment contract or professional internship).
• Familiarity with energy market concepts and markets, including their fundamental drivers (supply and demand), as well as macroeconomics and financial, foreign exchange, monetary, and geopolitical markets.
• Fluency in English (a reasonable command of Spanish is valued).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 tools (Teams, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience using LSEG / former Reuters Refinitiv Workspace tools.
• Availability for occasional travel abroad to attend energy-market-focused events, conferences, and training programmes, in order to deepen knowledge and support networking activities.
