Job summary

Fortil, an international engineering and technology consulting group, seeks an Embedded Linux Developer to join a collaborative R&D environment. You will drive the full lifecycle of embedded solutions, from design to testing, across ARM/PowerPC platforms.

The role requires 2–5 years of embedded Linux experience, strong knowledge of Linux user and kernel space, and the ability to work from an office 2 days per week in Porto or Paço de Arcos. Portuguese or English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of professional experience in embedded Linux development.
• Experience with user space and kernel space Linux development.
• Experience with device drivers and Linux PREEMPT_RT.
• Knowledge of Yocto Project or OpenEmbedded.
• Knowledge of networking protocols and topologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Ability to communicate professionally in Portuguese or English.
• Willingness to go to the office 2 times per week (Porto or Paço de Arcos).

Responsibilities

• Generate Linux OS images for embedded devices.
• Develop and adapt device drivers.
• Port Linux to ARM and PowerPC platforms.
• Work across Linux user space and kernel space.
• Configure networking and support system integration.
• Participate in design, development, debugging, and testing.
