What do we do?
Volkswagen Financial Services Porto is a VWFS IT hub, and the first outside Germany. Here we will establish a long‑term Business & IT company of 150+ FTE. Our primary goal is to service all European markets in implementing and maintaining contract management systems. Our focus is on: Core systems, satellite systems (such as document management systems, collection systems) but also extends to integrations, data, and large project organizations. For this we seek a hands‑on Platform Engineer.
Objectives:
As a Platform Engineer, you will contribute to the set‑up, operation, administration, and continuous improvement of enterprise data integration and platform services supporting multiple international markets. You will ensure platform stability, security, compliance, and performance while providing expert‑level technical support for complex integration and middleware solutions. Your work will involve administration of Informatica platforms, Linux infrastructure, monitoring solutions, network connectivity, APIs, identity management, and operational support processes across hybrid environments.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Being an active member of the VWFS Data Engineering team, supporting enterprise integration and data platforms used across multiple European markets.
- Administering and maintaining Informatica IDMC platform, including connectivity, security, certificates, parameterization, and operational support.
- Creating and maintaining connections for new projects and integrations.
- Managing certificate renewals and platform configuration changes.
- Monitoring platform health using Informatica Monitor and troubleshooting issues through log analysis.
- Providing expert‑level support for highly complex incidents, problems, and technical escalations.
- Performing root cause analysis, driving problem management activities, and implementing preventive measures to improve platform stability.
- Managing Linux‑based servers and supporting infrastructure.
- Performing Linux administration tasks through SSH, including tasks such as file management, log analysis, service verification and troubleshooting.
- Reviewing, troubleshooting, and enhancing Bash/Shell scripts to automate operational activities.
- Supporting Java‑based applications and Apache Tomcat services running on Linux environments.
- Understanding application deployments, service management, startup/shutdown procedures, log analysis, and Java/Tomcat performance troubleshooting.
- Troubleshooting API integrations and connectivity issues using tools such as Postman.
- Monitoring Linux virtual machines, Secure Agents, and platform services using Grafana and other monitoring solutions.
- Managing and coordinating network connectivity, firewall rules, and communication between applications, integration platforms, databases, and external systems.
- Applying Network Zoning Concepts and security requirements when troubleshooting connectivity and infrastructure issues.
- Supporting Identity and Access Management processes, including privileged access management using CyberArk.
- Maintaining technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge base articles.
- Participating in daily operational activities, project implementations, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
We believe that the right profile for this job should have / be:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3‑5 years of Experience working with Linux operating systems in enterprise environments.
- Strong Linux administration skills, including SSH access, file system management, process monitoring, service administration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Bash/Shell scripting and automation.
- Solid knowledge of Java application administration and troubleshooting.
- Experience managing and supporting Apache Tomcat environments.
- Experience administering Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) platforms.
- Experience troubleshooting API integrations using Postman or similar tools.
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Grafana.
- Good understanding of network concepts including firewalls, routing, DNS, VPNs, secure connectivity, and Network Zoning Concepts.
- Understanding of Identity and Access Management (IAM) principles and privileged access management solutions such as CyberArk.
- Experience with incident management, problem management, change management, and platform operations in enterprise environments.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving mindset.
- Ability to work independently within distributed and international teams.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
