Affinity, a Portuguese technology consulting company, seeks a backend-focused engineer to design, develop, and maintain Java services and RESTful integrations. You will collaborate with analysts and product owners in a hybrid Lisbon setup, contributing to scalable, secure software across multiple domains.

Ideal candidates have experience with SQL, Python, and BI tools like Power BI, plus strong English communication and French language skills.

Qualificações

• Strong interest in AI and data-driven tools.
• Proficient in Excel for analysis, consolidation and automation.
• SQL knowledge for data manipulation and querying.
• Experience with Power BI or equivalent reporting tools.
• Understanding of Data Management concepts and data governance principles.
• Knowledge of DAMA methodology and data governance tools (Erwin DI or equivalent).
• Programming skills (Python) are a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English; French preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend services and applications.
• Implement new features and enhancements across multiple business domains.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations with internal/external systems.
• Ensure software quality through unit testing and code reviews.
• Collaborate with analysts, product owners, and stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues to ensure reliability and performance.
• Identify technical improvements to enhance scalability, security, and efficiency.

What You Need To Have/know

• Strong interest in the use of artificial intelligence tools
• Excellent command of Excel (analysis, consolidation, automation)
• SQL knowledge
• Knowledge of reporting tools such as Power BI (or equivalent)
• Mastery of Data Management concepts (Physical/logical layers, Business objects, Data lineage, personal data management, etc.)
• Knowledge of DAMA methodology principles (Data Management)
• Knowledge of data governance tools (Erwin DI or equivalent)
• Programming skills are a plus (Python, etc.)
• Excellent verbal and written communication: French required , professional English

• English – B2
• French - B2/C1

• Hybrid Mode (50/50) - Lisbon

• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to translat requirements into technical solutions.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues, ensuring system reliability and performance.
• Identify and implement technical improvements to enhance scalability, maintainability, security, and efficiency.
• Support deployment activities and contribute to production stability when necessary.
• Collaborate with development teams to continuously improve development processes and engineering standards.
