Job summary

Hiscox in Lisbon is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Europe Data Team. You will design, build, and maintain data pipelines on Databricks, integrating data sources, and supporting our analytics platform running on Azure.

The role collaborates with Data Analysts and the Data Product Manager, focuses on data quality and performance, and helps migrate legacy processes to a modern cloud data stack. 3+ years in Data Engineering and fluent English required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
• 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Data & Analytics roles.
• Experience in analytics and reporting, ideally within the insurance industry.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop data pipelines on Databricks to ingest, transform, and deliver data.
• Integrate multiple data sources into a unified data platform.
• Contribute to data modelling and optimisation of data structures.
• Support platform evolution aligned with cloud architecture (Azure/Databricks).
• Deliver data requests, bug fixes, and improvements to production processes.
• Collaborate with Data Analysts and the Data Product Manager to deliver data solutions.
• Document technical solutions and contribute to team knowledge.
