Vantage Towers, based in Portugal, is seeking a Senior Data Architect to own the Data Estate and build scalable cloud-native architectures for our data lake and analytics landscape.

You will design data solutions, enable AI/ML use cases, ensure governance, and lead with a collaborative, multinational team across Europe.

Qualificações

• University degree or equivalent practical experience in a relevant IT field.
• 4 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles.
• Strong knowledge of data modeling, integration patterns, and data storage design.

Responsabilidades

• Own the Data Estate by designing scalable, secure data architectures for the VT Data Lake.
• Design and optimize data solutions and models for analytics and reporting at scale.
• Enable AI/ML use cases by defining governed data access and curated datasets.
• Lead technical design reviews and establish data governance principles.

Your Responsibilities

• Data Architecture: You will be the owner of the Data Estate by designing and owning scalable, secure, and future-proof data architectures that form the backbone of our VT Data Lake and analytics landscape, defining end-to-end solutions across cloud platforms.
• Model & Solutions Design: You build and optimize data solutions and models (ETL/ELT, orchestration, services and storage design) to support analytics and reporting at scale.
• AI & Use Case Enablement: You enable targeted AI/ML use cases by defining governed data access patterns and curated datasets that provide trusted context, while exploring and piloting emerging technologies (including agentic AI).
• Technical Leadership & Governance: You lead technical design reviews, assess architectural trade-offs, establish data governance principles, and ensure solutions follow industry best practices.
• Vendor & Quality Management: You lead and challenge external vendors to deliver high-quality, maintainable, and compliant data and analytics solutions.

Your Profile

• Educational Background: University degree in IT, computer science, engineering, business or maths with IT relevancy, or equivalent practical experience.
• Professional Experience: 4 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles, including practical experience designing or implementing scalable, cloud-native data solutions in distributed and multinational environments.
• Technical Skills:
• Required: Strong knowledge of data architecture principles (data modeling, integration patterns, pipeline orchestration, storage design). Proficient programming skills in Python or Java alongside advanced SQL.
• Nice to have: Hands-on exposure to supporting AI/ML workloads on data platforms (e.g., Vertex AI or BigQuery ML), experience enabling cross-platform access to governed data (e.g., MCP/A2A concepts), and experience with BI/Reporting platforms (preferably Power BI). Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery is highly beneficial.
• Soft Skills: Strong architectural mindset with the ability to structure complex data landscapes. You have a confident, structured, and solution-oriented working style, with the ability to simplify complex technical designs for non-technical stakeholders and balance conceptual thinking with pragmatic execution.
• Language Proficiency: Fluent English (C1 level), both written and spoken, with excellent communication skills.

At Vantage Towers we operate in 8 different European countries. This role will be based in Portugal.
