Job summary

Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto invites applications for a Bachelor-level research grant within the UID/00144/2025 project. The objective is to develop a multimodal AI framework for ocular and systemic disease detection, combining imaging, text, and tabular data.

Under the supervision of Joe3o Pedro Pedroso and Nguyen Tien Zung, you will design a fusion architecture, map embeddings to symptoms, and deliver a generalizable methodology with formal mathematical treatment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics or related areas.
• Enrollment in a Master Program in Computer Science, Mathematical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or Mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and formalize a multimodal AI framework for ocular and systemic disease detection.
• Design a fusion architecture that integrates imaging, text and tabular data.
• Map mathematical embeddings to explicit, human-understandable symptoms.
• Deliver a benchmarked, generalizable methodology adaptable to other datasets.
