A Universidade de Coimbra oferece uma Bolsa de Investigação na área de Engenharia Informática, com foco em pipelines de dados de imagem e visão computacional. O(a) bolseiro(a) irá colaborar sob supervisão científica, com duração inicial de 6 meses, renovável mediante avaliação.

É requisito estar licenciado em Engenharia Informática e estar matriculado(a) num mestrado em IA e Data Science, com potencial para publicação de artigos e documentação técnica.

Qualificações

• Graduates in Informatics Engineering enrolled in a master's in AI and Data Science.
• Candidatos que já beneficiaram de dois contratos de bolsa UC não são elegíveis.
• Nacionais de Portugal ou da UE, de terceiros países ou apátridas são elegíveis.

Responsabilidades

• Investigação de abordagens para otimizar pipelines de dados de imagem com IA.
• Análise de técnicas state-of-the-art em segmentação e classificação de imagens.
• Proposta e construção de pipeline com dados do projeto e da literatura.
• Experiimentaçao, validação e redação de artigo científico e documentação técnica.

Call for Research Grant Assignment

The call is governed by this Notice of Opening, the University of Coimbra Research Grant Regulations (RBI-UC), subsidiarily by the Research Grant Regulations of the Foundation for Science and Technology (RBI-FCT), by the Research Fellow Statute (EBI), by the Norms for Grant Assignment and Management within R&D Projects, by the Code of Administrative Procedure (CPA), all in their current wording, and by other applicable national and community legislation.

I - Legal admission requirements

I.I - Grant Recipients:

• Graduates, in the scientific area of Informatics Engineering, enrolled in a master's degree in the scientific area Artificial Intelligence and Data Science.

I.II - Ineligible candidates:

• Candidates who have already benefited from two research grant contracts with UC in the condition of being enrolled in a master's degree, regardless of whether each contract has reached the maximum legally permitted duration.

I.III - Eligible for grant assignment if meeting the requirements:

• Portuguese nationals or nationals of other EU Member States
• Nationals of third countries
• Stateless persons
• Beneficiaries of political refugee status

IV - Work Plan / Goals to be achieved:

Research into approaches for optimizing machine learning-based image data pipelines for computer vision.

Planned activities:

• Analysis and study of state-of-the-art techniques in machine learning-based image segmentation and classification models;
• Proposal of a pipeline utilizing suitable approaches and existing data from the project and literature;
• Experimentation and validation of the approaches;
• Writing of a scientific paper;
• Writing of technical and scientific documentation.

In addition to gaining knowledge in the scientific domain of the problem, the scholarship holder recipient is expected to develop skills in research methods and teamwork.

6 months

V.I - Renewal Possibility:

VI - Funding and financial conditions of the grant

VI.I - Monthly grant amount (paid by bank transfer at the end of each month):

1.090,98€

VI.II - In addition to the above amounts, voluntary social security (SSV) is included when the grant has a duration of six months or more, corresponding to the first level, if the candidate opts for it, as well as mandatory personal accident insurance.

VI.III - Funding:

The grant(s) assigned under this call will be funded by European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Innovation and Digital Transition Program (COMPETE 2030) of Portugal 2030| reference of operation no. 21338, operation COMPETE2030-FEDER-02218500 on Balcão dos Fundos.

VI.IV - Information and publicity about the funding:

All R&D activities directly or indirectly financed by the grant, namely all communications, publications and scientific creations, as well as theses, carried out with the support provided by the grant, must mention the financial support of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), through the Innovation and Digital Transition Program (COMPETE 2030) of Portugal 2030.

VII - Selection Methods

VII.I - AR - In the evaluation of the academic record, the candidates' academic performance will be assessed according to the following weights and criteria:

• Criterion 2: Adequacy of the candidate’s profile to the work plan to be developed
