Job summary

Preh Portugal, Lda in Trofa is seeking an Automation and Control Engineer to join our growing team, developing and maintaining automotive technologies for international projects. You will work with Siemens PLCs, HMI, and PC-based applications in a dynamic environment.

You will contribute to system integration, safety programming, robot interfacing, and documentation, while applying best practices in software development and project delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience with Siemens TIA Portal and SIMATIC PLCs (S7-1200/1500).
• Knowledge of ET 200 distributed I/O and PROFINET networking.
• Proficiency in C# and .NET with solid software development practices.
• Ability to read technical documentation and implement robust automation solutions.
• Desirable: Siemens Safety/F-CPUs, WinCC, KUKA robots, machine vision, CAN/LIN.

Responsibilities

• Develop and program Siemens PLCs and HMI (TIA Portal, WinCC).
• Configure I/O, PROFINET networks, and industrial peripherals.
• Develop C#/.NET applications and integrate with automation systems.
• Coordinate system integration, commissioning, and documentation.
• Collaborate on hardware/software architecture for automation projects.

About The Role

As a Automation and Control Engineer, you will be part of our growing team at Preh Portugal (Trofa), contributing to the development and maintenance of innovative automotive technologies. You'll work in a dynamic, international environment, using the latest tools and platforms to tackle real-world challenges.

The Challenges in Front of You

• Development and programming of Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal;


• Configuration and integration of Siemens distributed I/O and automation peripherals;


• Development and implementation of HMI solutions within the Siemens ecosystem; System integration using PROFINET and other industrial communication protocols;


• Implementation and integration of applications developed in C# (.NET);


• Integration of automation equipment, drives, sensors, vision systems, and industrial robots;


• Definition of the technical architecture for automation projects;


• Commissioning of the developed equipment;


• Preparation of technical documentation.

What You Bring to the Table

• Experience with Siemens TIA Portal;


• Experience programming Siemens SIMATIC PLCs, particularly S7-1200 / S7-1500;


• Knowledge of Siemens distributed I/O systems, such as ET 200;


• Experience with PROFINET and industrial communication networks;


• Knowledge of C# and .NET;


• Good development practices (software version control, testing, modularity);


• Ability to read technical documentation.


• Experience with Siemens Safety / F-CPUs and safety programming; (Desirable)


• Experience with Siemens HMI / WinCC; (Desirable)


• Programming of industrial robots, particularly KUKA; (Desirable)


• Knowledge of machine vision systems; (Desirable)


• Knowledge of CAN and LIN protocols. (Desirable)
