Job summary

Preh Portugal, Lda is seeking an Automation and Control Engineer to join our Trofa team. You will develop and maintain automotive automation systems, focusing on Siemens PLCs, HMI, and industrial communication networks while collaborating in an international environment.

You will also work with C#/.NET applications and contribute to system integration, safety programming is a plus, and you will help produce detailed technical documentation for projects.

Qualifications

• Experience with Siemens TIA Portal and SIMATIC PLCs (S7-1200/S7-1500).
• Knowledge of Siemens distributed I/O systems (ET 200) and PROFINET.
• Familiarity with C# and .NET development practices (version control, testing).
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
• Desirable: Siemens Safety/F-CPUs and safety programming; Siemens HMI/WinCC; KUKA robots; machine vision; CAN/LIN protocols.

Responsibilities

• Develop and program Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal and configure distributed I/O.
• Develop and implement HMI solutions within Siemens WinCC.
• Handle system integration using PROFINET and other industrial protocols.
• Work with C#/.NET to develop and integrate applications.
• Integrate automation equipment, drives, sensors, vision systems, and robots.
• Prepare technical documentation and contribute to project architecture.

About the Role

As a Automation and Control Engineer, you will be part of our growing team at Preh Portugal (Trofa), contributing to the development and maintenance of innovative automotive technologies. You'll work in a dynamic, international environment, using the latest tools and platforms to tackle real-world challenges.

The Challenges in Front of You

• Development and programming of Siemens PLCs using TIA Portal;
• Configuration and integration of Siemens distributed I/O and automation peripherals;
• Development and implementation of HMI solutions within the Siemens ecosystem;
• System integration using PROFINET and other industrial communication protocols;
• Implementation and integration of applications developed in C# (.NET);
• Integration of automation equipment, drives, sensors, vision systems, and industrial robots;
• Definition of the technical architecture for automation projects;
• Commissioning of the developed equipment;
• Preparation of technical documentation.
