Job summary

AKSA Capital in Lisbon, Portugal is seeking an experienced Accountant to manage day-to-day financial and tax matters. The role requires expertise in Portuguese VAT, IRC and corporate compliance, and acting as the company’s official accounting representative.

The successful candidate will maintain records, monitor transactions, support budgeting and ensure regulatory compliance across authorities and audits.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in accounting & finance or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience in accounting and tax compliance in Portugal, with VAT and IRC knowledge.
• Authorization to work in Portugal.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
• High integrity, accuracy, confidentiality and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file tax returns in accordance with Portuguese regulations.
• Manage VAT filings and ensure timely submissions.
• Handle Corporate Income Tax (IRC) filings and related compliance matters.

AKSA Capital is looking for a competent, detail-oriented and reliable Accountant to join our team at our Lisbon office. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional with strong knowledge of Portuguese accounting, taxation, VAT and corporate compliance, who can take responsibility for the company’s day-to-day financial and tax-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and file tax returns in accordance with Portuguese regulations
• Manage VAT filings and ensure timely and accurate submissions
• Handle Corporate Income Tax (IRC) filings and related compliance matters
• Act as the Company’s official financial/accounting representative before relevant authorities, where legally applicable
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation of company expenses
• Monitor financial transactions, expenses and supporting documentation
• Coordinate with management on financial planning, budgeting and reporting
• Ensure compliance with Portuguese accounting standards, tax regulations and applicable legal requirements
• Liaise with relevant authorities, accountants, auditors and other financial stakeholders as required

Requirements

• Master’s degree in accounting & finance, or an equivalent qualification
• Proven professional experience in accounting and tax compliance, with strong working knowledge of Portuguese VAT, Corporate Tax (IRC) and applicable financial regulations
• [Registered Certified Accountant (OCC), as required to sign and submit tax filings in Portugal]
• Authorisation to work in Portugal
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
• High level of integrity, accuracy, confidentiality and attention to detail
• Good communication skills in English
• Job type: Full-time
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
