Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (Backend) for the Recoveries platform. This remote Poland role focuses on defining the technical direction as we scale decisioning, improve data integrity, and expand internationally.

You will own cross-team initiatives, drive reliability, and shape the architecture of critical recovery systems. You will collaborate with product, design, and analytics to ensure sustainable technical choices, while mentoring peers and building scalable, observable

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Backend systems design and development at scale using Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience with batch, asynchronous or data-processing systems including workflows and reconciliation.
• Ability to architect solutions across complex systems and organizational boundaries.
• Deliver major features with high-quality, maintainable code.
• Thrive in ambiguity and understand large system architectures.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with global teams.
