Job summary

Black Pen Recruitment is seeking an experienced Scrum Master to join a dynamic IT services team. The role supports remote collaboration within the EU while integrating with a major client's IT team on site.

You will lead agile ceremonies, coach teams, and optimize delivery using data-driven methods. The ideal candidate has extensive Scrum Master experience (SM2+), strong facilitation skills, and fluency in English.

Qualifications

• University degree and 8+ years IT experience.
• At least 3 years as Scrum Master at SM2 level or above.
• Led 2 production teams through full sprint cycles (planning, review, retrospective, refinement).
• Implemented data-driven improvements to increase velocity or reduce lead time.
• Experience coordinating cross-team work via Scrum-of-Scrums or PI Planning events.
• Deep knowledge of Scrum Guide and Agile Manifesto.
• Good knowledge of facilitation techniques (e.g., Fist of Five).
• Systems-thinking and process tailoring for complex environments.
• Team motivation and stakeholder engagement techniques.
• Knowledge of Agile metrics and ability to build dashboards for performance and forecasting.
• Azure DevOps or Jira backlog management and dashboards.
• Scrum Master certifications: PSM II or SAFe 5/6 Agilist.
• Experience with scaled Agile frameworks (SAFe, Nexus, LeSS) is a plus.
• Knowledge integrating SAFe and Kanban to optimize flow.
• Excellent command of English.

Responsibilities

• Organize and facilitate agile activities and ceremonies (daily stand-up, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, backlog refinement).
• Ensure meetings are productive, on-topic, and timeboxed.
• Collaborate with product owner to manage the backlog.
• Coach team and Product Owner on empiricism and incremental delivery.
• Track flow metrics and guide data-driven improvement.
• Champion adoption of agile standards, tools, and best practices.
• Identify and resolve impediments to team progress.
• Promote empowered, self-organizing teams and psychological safety.
• Uphold Definition of Done and quality gates.
• Communicate delivery progress and risks across teams.
• Use feedback and metrics to identify areas for opportunity and improvement.
• Support team in using Azure DevOps and Confluence; explore new practices.
