Job summary

State Street is seeking a senior database engineer to advance design, development, and optimization of scalable data solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, secure database platforms and contribute to modernization initiatives within the CRD Engineering ecosystem.

The role requires strong SQL proficiency, distributed data platform experience, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

5–7+ years of professional software engineering experience with enterprise apps backed by RDBMS or Snowflake.
Hands-on experience in RDBMS and distributed data platforms as a database developer.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot database issues.
Proficiency in SQL performance tuning in MS SQL Server, Oracle, or Snowflake.

Responsibilities

Design scalable, performant, and highly available distributed database solutions.
Collaborate with scrum teams to design and deliver database design conforming to best practices.
Create and maintain documentation of database design, data models, and processes.
Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts to support app development.
Optimize performance through indexing, query tuning, and other techniques.
Monitor performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and recommend solutions.
Implement and manage database security including access controls and auditing.
