Job summary

Charles River Development (CRD), part of State Street, is hiring a database-focused software engineer to enhance and maintain its distributed database solutions. You will design scalable architectures, develop complex SQL, and drive performance improvements within an agile Scrum environment.

The role requires collaboration with engineering, product, QA and sales teams, and a hybrid work model with at least 3 days in the office per week.

Qualifications

• 5 to 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with enterprise applications backed with RDBMS databases or Snowflake.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot and resolve database related issues.
• Proficiency in SQL performance tuning in MS SQL Server, Oracle, or Snowflake.
• Strong track record of building high performance, production quality software on schedule.
• Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt quickly to changes.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Database Design and Architecture: design scalable, performant and highly available distributed database solutions.
• Collaborate with peers to design and deliver database solutions meeting requirements.
• Create and maintain documentation of database design, data models, configurations, and processes.
• Database Development and optimization: write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts.
• Optimize performance through indexing, query optimization, and tuning techniques.
• Monitor database performance metrics and identify bottlenecks.
• Develop toolsets for performance testing and synthetic data generation.
• Implement and manage database security, access controls, encryption, and auditing.
• Database Administration: troubleshoot and resolve production issues; monitor health and reliability.
• Perform installations, configurations, and upgrades in lower environments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship on database technologies.
