Job summary

State Street seeks a senior database engineer to design, develop, and optimize scalable database solutions across SQL Server, Oracle, and Snowflake. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and performance, shaping advanced database architectures within CRD engineering.

The role requires 5–7+ years of experience, strong SQL tuning skills, and leadership in database projects.

Qualifications

5 to 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with enterprise applications backed with RDBMS databases or Snowflake.
Extensive hands-on experience in RDBMS and distributed data platforms as a database developer.
Proficiency in SQL performance tuning in MS SQL Server, Oracle, or Snowflake.
Strong track record of building high performance, production quality software on schedule.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Minimum of 5 years working with an Agile development methodology.

Responsibilities

Design and implement scalable distributed database solutions.
Collaborate with scrum teams to design and deliver database designs.
Create and maintain documentation of database design, data models, configurations, and processes.
Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts.
Optimize performance through indexing and query optimization.
Monitor database performance metrics and propose solutions.
Collaborate with engineering teams to define performance test strategy.
Implement and manage database security, including access controls and auditing.
Collaborate with production DBA team to troubleshoot issues.
Monitor and maintain database health and disaster recovery.
Perform installation, configuration, and upgrades in lower environments.
Provide thought leadership on database technologies and data modeling.
Mentor junior database engineers.
