Job summary

WP Engine is looking for a Senior Backend/Platform Engineer to architect and implement cloud-scale backend capabilities. You will own services from design to observability, focusing on resiliency, async workflows, automation, and scalability in a modern cloud-native stack.

You will work across Go/Python and modern platform environments, contributing to APIs, data access patterns, and event-driven processing while embracing AI-assisted tooling and best engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Backend services or web platforms development experience.
• Experience with GCP or AWS.
• Understanding the fundamentals of distributed systems.
• CI/CD pipelines and Observability practices.
• Cloud security fundamentals and IAM concepts.
• SOLID, automated testing and solid documentation.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, deploy, and maintain backend services and platform capabilities.
• Develop and integrate APIs using established service and architecture patterns.
• Run and support services across cloud and platform environments, including managed cloud services, containers, and VM-based runtimes.
• Use CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code workflows to deliver changes safely and repeatably.
• Use logs, metrics, and traces to diagnose production issues and improve reliability.
