Job summary

WP Engine in Poland seeks a Backend Engineer to architect and implement scalable cloud infrastructure services at scale. This role crosses software engineering, distributed systems, and production reliability with full ownership from design to observability.

You will work with Go/Python, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and cloud platforms, building APIs, event-driven workflows, and robust data access patterns while prioritizing security, monitoring, and maintainability.

Qualifications

• Backend services or web platforms experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS) and platform engineering.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code.
• Knowledge of security fundamentals in cloud environments.
• Strong engineering practices and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement backend capabilities for global cloud infrastructure.
• Develop and integrate APIs using established service patterns.
• Work with relational data stores and data access patterns.
• Contribute to event-driven workflows and background processing.
• Run and support services across cloud and on-prem environments.
• Use CI/CD andIaC to deliver changes safely and repeatably.
• Engage in design discussions and provide practical implementation feedback.
