Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend for Card Integrations and Payments Experience. This remote role can be based in Poland, with responsibilities spanning cross-functional collaboration and ownership of backend systems and payment workflows.

You will design and implement scalable services using Python or Kotlin, deploy on AWS with MySQL and Kubernetes, and shipping high-quality code while maintaining reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Design, develop and launch backend systems at scale using Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Experience shipping frontend applications.
• Define a technical plan for delivering large features with simple, extensible design.
• Own growth by seeking feedback and improving code quality.
• Strong written and verbal communication for collaboration with a global team.

Responsibilities

• Own quarterly goals for your team and lead engineers through ambiguity to delivery.
• Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics in ideation and decision making.
• Proactively identify issues and lead in solving them.
• Support operations and availability by creating metrics and participating in on-call work.
• Set or improve code review and design standards and advocate for them beyond your team.
• Mentor teammates and develop talent by providing feedback and leading by example.
