Job summary

Square One Resources Limited is seeking a Senior Rust Developer for a long-term project focused on production-grade solutions using Rust, C, and Qt 6. You will work on memory safety, type systems, and Rust/C FFI across boundaries, in a review‑driven environment.

Responsibilities include building safe Rust APIs, procedural macros, and cross-platform Rust builds across Linux, Windows, and macOS. The role is 100% remote in Poland with a six-month engagement and potential extension; rate up to PLN

Qualifications

• Senior Rust experience with ownership, borrowing and lifetime concepts.
• Hands-on Rust/C FFI experience, preferably via cxx.
• Design safe Rust abstractions and wrappers for C code.
• Experience with procedural macros (syn, quote, proc-macro2).
• Design and maintain public Rust library APIs with SemVer mindset.
• Strong cross‑platform Rust build engineering (build.rs, Linux, Windows, macOS).
• Rigorous testing, formatting, and documentation practices.
• Experience with threat modelling and security reviews for systems software.
• Working knowledge of Qt 6 (QObject, signals/slots, QML ownership) and C 17 bridge.
• Familiar with Gerrit-based reviews and small-commit workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop production-quality Rust code and, where required, C code.
• Design and maintain idiomatic, safe Rust APIs.
• Build safe Rust wrappers around existing C functionality.
• Work with Rust C FFI, ideally using cxx.
• Develop and maintain procedural macros using syn, quote and proc-macro2.
• Provide high-quality compile-time diagnostics for procedural macros.
• Work with ownership, lifetimes and object lifetime management across the Rust/C boundary.
• Design and stabilise public library APIs with semver and deprecation planning.
• Maintain cross-platform Rust builds across Linux, Windows/MSVC and macOS.
• Write tests alongside every change; maintain rustdoc for public APIs.
• Participate in code reviews using Gerrit; follow small commits.
• Contribute to security reviews and threat modelling for the library.
• Analyse memory-safety and trust boundaries across the Rust/C FFI surface.
• Collaborate with the Qt/C team for integration.
