Job summary

Corning Inc. seeks an Optical Assembly Development Engineer to advance micro-optic components and high‑volume manufacturing readiness. You will lead experimental design, precision alignment, and evaluation of optical assemblies, collaborating across international teams with a strong emphasis on data-driven results.

The role requires hands-on lab work, deep knowledge of optical components, and a track record of solving complex engineering challenges through experimentation and analysis.

Qualifications

• Hands-on laboratory experience with optical components and instrumentation.
• Experience with optical/micro-optical assemblies, characterization and evaluation.
• Design, build and optimize experimental setups for optical alignment and performance testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead R&D on optical assembly concepts for micro-optic components and systems.
• Plan and execute experiments with international project teams and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with metrology to define characterization strategies and analyze data.
• Drive precision micro-scale alignment methods and evaluate joining/materials for optical applications.
