Job summary

UST is looking for a Junior Lab Support Engineer to provide onsite operational and technical support for Client validation laboratories in Gdansk. The role focuses on system monitoring, hardware setup, machine recovery, OS and firmware activities, inventory management, and maintaining lab readiness.

You'll work hands-on in our validation lab, install and configure Windows and Linux, manage inventory, document procedures, and escalate complex issues to senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Onsite work in a validation lab environment.
• Hands-on hardware setup and system recovery experience.
• Proficiency in Windows and Linux OS installation.
• Good documentation, communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor DUT and platform health with Grafana, Zabbix, ELMO and other tools.
• Execute predefined troubleshooting and machine recovery procedures.
• Install and configure Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Perform firmware flashing and basic system diagnostics.
• Assemble hardware, replace components and upgrade hardware.
• Provision systems and prep test environments for validation.
• Carry out rack installation, cable management and equipment relocation.
• Verify machine health after setup or recovery.
• Maintain hardware inventory and update asset systems.
• Support lab operations and equipment logistics.
• Document troubleshooting and recovery activities.
• Escalate complex issues to experienced engineers.
• Support KPIs related to monitoring, hardware setup, inventory and recovery.

Required Skills & Experience

• Basic knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and networking.
• Hands-on experience with or good understanding of Windows and Linux.
• Understanding of hardware components, assembly, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to follow technical procedures and perform system recovery activities.
• Basic understanding of firmware installation and system configuration.
• Good documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work onsite in a hands-on validation lab environment.

Preferred Skills

• Previous experience or internship in IT support, hardware support, validation, test, or lab environments.
• Familiarity with Grafana, Zabbix, ELMO, or similar monitoring tools.
• Exposure to firmware flashing, server/workstation setup, or hardware diagnostics.
• Basic scripting knowledge in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Familiarity with inventory or asset management processes.

Education

Technical qualification or degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
