Job summary

ALTEN, a global leader in engineering and IT services, seeks an experienced developer in Kraków to join a multi-disciplinary team. You will break down complex business requirements into actionable user stories and iteratively deliver value to production with a focus on code quality and collaboration.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of development experience, strong Python/Java knowledge, and hands-on Spring expertise. English communication, and microservices experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of development experience.
• Strong understanding of software development concepts (SOLID, Clean Code, DDD, BDD).
• Demonstrated experience in Python + basic Java.
• Extensive experience with Spring Framework.
• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Experience in ML, NLP, AI, or Data Science (advantageous).
• Ability to teach and collaborate with engineers to design new systems and solutions.
• Strong written and oral English communication skills.
• Prior experience with event streaming technology.
• Prior experience with microservices.

Responsibilities

• Work within a team of 4–6 people with a dedicated product owner (teams may be co-located or geographically dispersed).
• Break down business requirements into user stories and deliver them iteratively to production.
• Provide product support as part of the team’s responsibility ("the team builds it, the team supports it").
• Identify technical debt and ensure a balanced prioritization between addressing tech debt and delivering new functionality.
• Design solutions for new items while ensuring compliance with technology guidelines and constraints.
• Collaborate through pairing with other team members.

What You’ll Do
