Job summary

ALTEN Polska is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design, develop, and maintain microservices-based backend applications using Java 21+ and Spring in a cloud/Kubernetes environment. You will contribute to a next-generation network management platform, work with Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, PostgreSQL, and CI/CD practices in an Agile team, while communicating in English across international projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java 21+ and Spring Framework.
• Hands-on experience designing and building microservices in distributed systems.
• Familiar with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend applications based on a microservices architecture.
• Build scalable, high-performance services using Java 21+ and the Spring Framework.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and the evolution of a next-generation network management platform.
• Develop and integrate event-driven solutions using Kafka and Azure Event Hubs.
• Deploy and support applications running in cloud and Kubernetes environments.
• Optimize application performance, reliability, and availability.

Tasks:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend applications based on a microservices architecture.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in backend software development.
• Strong proficiency in Java 21+ and the Spring Framework.
• Hands-on experience designing and building microservices in distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and clean code practices.
• Practical experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments.
• Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
• Hands-on experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka and Azure Event Hubs.
• Solid knowledge of PostgreSQL, including database design, performance tuning, and optimization.
• Experience with version control systems, particularly Git and GitHub.
• Good understanding of Linux systems and scripting for automation.
• Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, including protocols, routing, and network services.
• Experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting high-availability backend services.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English in a technical and international environment.
• Proven experience using AI-powered development tools, such as GitHub Copilot and Google Gemini, to enhance software development workflows.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Hands-on experience with lab environments, system installations, upgrades, and configurations.
• Experience creating and maintaining technical and architectural documentation.
• Ability to mentor other engineers and contribute to technical discussions.
• Previous experience working as an external contractor or consultant within Agile teams.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to changing project requirements.
