Job summary

ALTEN Polska is seeking a Data Engineer to design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Scala and Spark in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

You will analyze data in large-scale datalakes, collaborate with global teams in a Scrum environment, and help refine backlog items while ensuring code quality and production releases.

Nice to have: GCP experience, Python basics, and CI/CD tools. Based in Kraków with opportunities for onsite work within ALTEN Polska.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Scala Spark in GCP.

• Refine technical backlog items and support Product Owners in prioritization.
• Perform standard code maintenance: testing, refactoring, and debugging.
• Share knowledge across teams and participate in end-to-end product development, including production releases.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Scala Spark in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).


• Analyze data in large-scale Datalakes and validate tests using Apache Airflow.


• Collaborate with global teams (onsite and remote) to deliver solutions in a Scrum/Agile environment.


• Refine technical backlog items and support Product Owners in prioritization.


• Perform standard code maintenance: testing, refactoring, and debugging.


• Share knowledge across teams and participate in the end-to-end product development cycle, including production releases.


• Challenge existing processes while adhering to regulatory and industry standards.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Scala, Spark.


• Experience with GitHub, Jira, and Confluence.


• Familiarity with Apache Airflow and basics of Python.


• Hands‑on experience working in a Scrum framework.


• Excellent English communication skills (discussions, presentations).

Nice to have:

• Experience with GCP and other major cloud providers (Azure, AWS).


• Knowledge of JUnit, TDD, BDD, and Jenkins.


• Familiarity with Clean Code, SOLID, KISS, DRY, and design patterns.


• Experience with Elasticsearch.


• Secure coding certifications (e.g., Secure Code Warrior).
