Job summary

Sphera is seeking a Director of Engineering to build a durable engineering organization for the AI era. This senior leadership role owns reliability, cost, and how the team experiments with and adopts AI-assisted development, on top of growing a team and shipping high-quality software.

You will lead the team through organizational change, drive cross-team programs, and partner with Product and Platform to keep architecture aligned with the wider technology organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software development, leading teams of 30+ in a fast-paced SaaS environment.
• Hands-on experience with iterative AI-assisted development trials and clear AI context for systems.
• Experience managing complex cross-team programs with fixed launch dates.
• Familiarity with site reliability practices and FinOps principles.
• Experience guiding organizational change including vendor or contractor transitions.
• Strong grounding in agile delivery and software engineering fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI adoption strategy and partner with AI transformation initiatives.
• Grow and retain a scalable engineering organization with resilient processes.
• Manage cross-team programs and surface schedule risk early.
