Job summary

Skyways Technics Poland is seeking an Aircraft Structure Component Painter to prepare, paint, refinish, and protect aircraft components and flight controls within the component repair workshop. The role ensures adherence to approved maintenance data, OEM specs, and Part-145 requirements while upholding quality, safety, and environmental standards.

• Technical or vocational education in aircraft painting or related field.
• Formal training in spray painting techniques and coating application preferred.
• Good knowledge of aircraft paint systems, primers, sealants, corrosion protection, and surface preparation techniques.
• Ability to read Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), Engineering Orders, OEM painting specifications, technical drawings, and company procedures.
• Knowledge of paint mixing ratios, coating systems, curing processes, and paint application equipment.
• Basic computer skills and ability to work with electronic maintenance documentation.
• Good command of English sufficient to understand technical documentation and communicate within an international working environment.
• Knowledge of Part-145 requirements and Human Factors principles is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces of aircraft structural components and flight controls before painting.
• Apply primers, sealants, topcoats, protective finishes, and special coatings according to data sheets and manufacturer specs.
• Prepare and mix paints, hardeners, thinners and other coating materials.
• Carry out touch-up, refinishing, corrosion protection and cosmetic restoration of repaired components.
• Remove existing coatings using approved methods.
• Ensure correct masking and protection of areas not requiring paint.
• Operate spray guns, paint booths, curing equipment and related workshop tools safely.
• Perform visual inspections to verify finish quality, thickness, and colour conformity.
• Identify and report defects affecting paint quality or component condition.
• Coordinate with other workshops to ensure proper release for painting.
• Record all work per procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Store and dispose of paints and hazardous materials per regulations and procedures.
• Verify shelf life and serviceability of paints and consumables.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of painting areas and PPE.
• Support productivity and continuous improvement initiatives related to paint quality and efficiency.

Position Summary

The Aircraft Structure Component Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, refinishing, and protecting aircraft structural components and flight controls within the Skyways Technics Poland component repair workshop.

The role ensures that all surface preparation and painting activities are performed in accordance with approved maintenance data, OEM specifications, company procedures, and applicable Part-145 requirements while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance.

Responsibilities

• Perform surface preparation of aircraft structural components and flight controls before painting, including cleaning, degreasing, sanding, masking, and chemical surface treatment.
• Apply primers, sealants, topcoats, protective finishes, and special coatings in accordance with approved maintenance data and manufacturer specifications.
• Prepare and mix paints, hardeners, thinners, and other coating materials in accordance with technical data sheets and manufacturer's instructions.
• Carry out touch-up, refinishing, corrosion protection, and cosmetic restoration of repaired components.
• Remove existing coatings where required using approved mechanical or chemical methods.
• Ensure correct masking and protection of areas not requiring paint application.
• Operate spray guns, paint booths, curing equipment, and associated workshop equipment safely and efficiently.
• Perform visual inspections of painted surfaces to verify finish quality, coating thickness, colour conformity, and overall workmanship.
• Identify and report any defects or non-conformities affecting paint quality or component condition.
• Coordinate with Sheet Metal and Composite Workshops to ensure components are released for painting at the appropriate stage of the repair process.
• Ensure all work performed is accurately recorded and documented in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure paints, chemicals, and hazardous materials are stored, handled, and disposed of in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, environmental regulations, and company procedures.
• Verify shelf life and serviceability of paints, primers, sealants, and consumable materials before use.
• Ensure proper use, cleaning, and maintenance of painting equipment and tools.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, including the paint booth and associated preparation areas.
• Wear and maintain the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling paints, solvents, and hazardous substances.
• Comply with all occupational health, safety, environmental, and hazardous material handling requirements.
• Support workshop productivity and turnaround time targets while maintaining the required quality standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving paint quality, efficiency, and workshop performance.
• Work closely with Supervisors, Technical Services, Quality, Logistics, and other workshop personnel to support efficient component repairs.
• Perform other workshop-related duties within the employee's competence as assigned by the Supervisor or Workshop Management.

Qualification Requirements

• Technical or vocational education in Aircraft Painting, Industrial Painting, Automotive Refinishing, Surface Coating Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Formal training in spray painting techniques and coating application is preferred.
• Good knowledge of aircraft paint systems, primers, sealants, corrosion protection, and surface preparation techniques.
• Ability to read and understand Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), Engineering Orders, OEM painting specifications, technical drawings, and company procedures.
• Knowledge of paint mixing ratios, coating systems, curing processes, and paint application equipment.
• Basic computer skills and ability to work with electronic maintenance documentation.

Working Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of practical experience in aircraft painting, aircraft component painting, or a comparable aerospace or industrial painting environment.
• Hands‑on experience in surface preparation, masking, spray painting, corrosion protection, and refinishing of aircraft structures or components.
• Experience working with polyurethane, epoxy, primer, and topcoat paint systems used in the aerospace industry.
• Experience using spray guns, paint booths, curing equipment, and paint preparation equipment.
• Experience working with hazardous chemicals and applying safe handling procedures.
• Previous experience within a Part-145-approved maintenance or aircraft component repair organization is highly desirable.
• Experience painting aircraft structural components and flight controls is considered a strong advantage.
• Experience with ATR aircraft components is considered an advantage.
