Job summary

HR POD Careers is seeking an experienced payroll professional to manage end-to-end payroll for a varied portfolio of client companies. You will handle RTI submissions, PAYE liabilities, pension submissions, and year-end requirements while producing payslips and payroll reports.

A strong grasp of current payroll legislation and client communication is essential. The role offers opportunities to broaden accounting skills, including bookkeeping and VAT tasks, with exposure to cloud tools like Xero

Qualifications

• Experience in end-to-end payroll for multiple clients.
• Knowledge of RTI, PAYE, and year-end processes.
• Experience with statutory payments and auto-enrolment pensions.
• Familiarity with payroll software and current legislation.
• Able to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
• Strong client communication and payroll-query handling.
• Interest in broader accounting and accounts preparation.
• Bookkeeping or VAT experience; Xero/QuickBooks familiarity desirable.
• CIPP or AAT qualification (advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of client payrolls end to end across weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly, and monthly frequencies.
• Process RTI submissions, PAYE liabilities, statutory payments, pension assessments, deductions, and year-end payroll requirements.
• Produce payslips, payroll reports, and journals, acting as the main contact for client payroll queries.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure HMRC compliance with current legislation.
• Perform bookkeeping and bank reconciliations for a range of clients as part of the accounts training programme.
• Prepare VAT returns under Making Tax Digital and support year-end accounts for small entities.
• Assist with management accounts and maintain accurate working papers.
• Develop practical experience with cloud accounting software such as Xero and QuickBooks.
• Progressively develop broader accounting skills through training to become a well-rounded practice all-rounder.
