ValueMomentum, Inc. is seeking a hands-on ETL Test Engineer to validate data movement across source, staging, transformation, and target systems.

The role emphasizes ETL/Data Warehouse testing, strong SQL, data quality validation, and defect management within an Agile environment. Based in Hyderabad, you will collaborate with data engineers, developers, and business analysts to ensure data accuracy and reliability, design test scenarios, and execute end-to-end testing across multiple databases

Competenze

• 5–6 years of QA/testing experience, including 3+ years hands-on ETL/Data Warehouse testing.
• Strong hands-on ETL testing, Data Warehouse testing, and source-to-target validation.
• Deep understanding of ETL architecture, data flow, mappings, transformations, and business rules.
• Advanced SQL skills including complex queries, joins, CTEs, window functions, and data manipulation.

We are looking for a hands-on ETL Test Engineer with experience in ETL/Data Warehouse testing, database testing, and data validation. The candidate should be able to validate data movement across source, staging, transformation, and target systems. Strong SQL, data reconciliation, transformation validation, data quality testing, and defect management skills are important, along with experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with development, business, and data engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute ETL test scenarios, test cases, and test scripts based on business and technical requirements.
• Perform source-to-target data validation across multiple databases and data platforms.
• Validate ETL mappings, transformations, business rules, joins, filters, aggregations, lookups, and calculations.
• Perform database testing using SQL, including complex queries, joins, subqueries, CTEs, stored procedures, and aggregate functions.
• Validate data across source, staging, transformation, and target layers.
• Perform data reconciliation to ensure completeness, accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
• Validate record counts, duplicate records, NULL values, data types, constraints, referential integrity, and business rules.
• Identify data truncation, transformation, mapping, and data quality issues.
• Validate ETL batch/job completion, failure handling, restart/recovery scenarios, and dependencies.
• Validate incremental, full, delta, and historical loads, including SCD Type 1 and Type 2 implementations.
• Validate data migration and conversion activities where applicable.
• Analyze ETL failures and work with developers and data engineers to identify root causes.
• Prepare test data and execute positive, negative, boundary, and exception scenarios.
• Log, track, and manage defects using Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar tools.
• Support SIT, regression, integration, and production validation activities.
• Develop reusable SQL queries and data validation scripts, and identify opportunities for test automation.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with Business Analysts, Developers, Data Engineers, and QA team members.

Requirements

• 5–6 years of overall QA/testing experience, including 3+ years of hands-on ETL/Data Warehouse testing.
• Strong hands-on experience in ETL testing, Data Warehouse testing, and source-to-target validation.
• Strong understanding of ETL architecture, data flow, source-to-target mapping, transformations, and business rules.
• Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, subqueries, CTEs, UNION/UNION ALL, GROUP BY/HAVING, aggregate and window functions, CASE statements, and date/string functions.
• Experience with stored procedures, views, data comparison, and reconciliation queries.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server or equivalent database tools.
• Experience validating full, incremental, delta, and historical loads and understanding SCD Type 1 and Type 2.
• Experience with data quality testing, defect management, and Agile/Scrum delivery.
• Ability to independently write SQL queries to validate large data volumes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Good To Have

• Exposure to ETL test automation or data validation automation frameworks.
• Experience with ETL job monitoring/scheduling tools and Excel for data analysis and reconciliation.
• Exposure to cloud data platforms and modern data engineering environments.
