Job summary

ValueMomentum, Inc. is seeking a Data Test Engineer to validate data sources, transformations, and loaded data in target tables.

You will design, test, and troubleshoot client data storage systems before release, leveraging Python, SQL, XML, and data warehousing concepts. The role requires strong technical capabilities, experience in data testing, and collaboration with data engineers and developers to ensure data quality across P&C insurance solutions for US/UK/Canadian markets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Experience in software quality assurance, with a focus on data testing and validation.
• Understanding of P&C insurance concepts, data models, workflows, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong SQL skills for data validation and analysis.
• Knowledge of data testing principles and both manual and automated testing.
• Experience developing data validation scripts and frameworks using Python, SQL, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with ETL testing tools and data quality platforms such as Informatica, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Talend, or similar.
• Knowledge of BI reporting testing tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik Sense, or similar.
• Familiarity with Jira, HP ALM, or similar defect tracking and test management tools.
• Understanding of regression testing and Agile delivery.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Relevant certifications such as ISTQB, ICP, or Agile certifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement data testing strategies and methodologies to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity in P&C insurance software solutions.
• Conduct data validation to identify and resolve data quality issues.
• Design test plans, test cases, and scenarios covering data completeness, correctness, and consistency.
• Execute manual and automated data testing according to defined test plans.
• Analyze source-to-target mappings and perform source-system data verification.
• Validate data transformations, aggregations, and business rules.
• Identify data anomalies and perform root-cause analysis with developers and data engineers.
• Participate in data migration and reconciliation testing across legacy and modern systems.
• Develop and maintain automated data validation scripts and frameworks using SQL, Python, or similar languages.
• Implement automated data validation checks to improve efficiency and detect data issues early.
• Test ETL extraction, transformation, and loading, ensuring data flows correctly through pipeline stages.
• Collaborate with development and data engineering teams to prioritize and resolve defects.
• Perform regression testing and follow established quality standards and testing practices.
