Job description

Position Summary:

The role will work closely with the Senior Manager (Wind Development) and the Technical Team, focusing on supporting technical workstreams. Frequent interfacing with the Business Development Team and external stakeholders such as consultants and contractors is expected. Candidate will undertake technical analysis of data (including wind measurement or production data) in order to plan and manage wind measurement systems and campaigns; evaluate, rank and recommend candidate sites for wind development; forecast future energy yield of wind farms for different scenarios; evaluate and recommend turbine models aiming to reduce LCOE for each project. It is expected that multiple projects will be handled simultaneously, with eventual site visits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan, recommend, monitor and control wind measurement campaigns and systems, ensuring IEC compliance and/or good industry practice.
  • Perform wind flow modeling, recommend adequate wind flow modeling techniques and scope of work to be outsourced, and review wind flow model outputs.
  • Undertake energy and uncertainty production assessments for different layouts and turbine configurations, which might include site visits, wind and production data processing and quality checking, correlation analysis, wind flow and wake modelling, review of energy losses, statistical analysis and reporting.
  • Undertaking site condition assessments for different turbine types which include elements above but also a review of extreme wind speed, ambient and wake induced turbulence intensity, wind shear and temperature range.
  • Review and evaluate wind turbine models and suppliers, and recommend optimal design/layout configurations aiming to minimize LCOE.
  • Support technical, land acquisition and permitting teams and workstreams by providing analyses and producing detailed reports which review the feasibility of sites for development, including feasibility studies, layout optimization / micro siting, site meteorological measurements, shadow flicker assessment, noise modelling and visual impact assessment.
  • Review and evaluate technical documentation, either related to wind turbine technology or to other engineering related workstreams.
  • Support with the general design of wind farm projects and with Technical Due Diligence activities.
  • Producing written reports and other documentation and presenting them to the senior management or external stakeholders.
  • Follow market trends, keeping up to date with the latest, state of the art tools and techniques and industry best practices.
  • Undertaking analysis of operating wind farm data sets to assess the performance of the wind farm and to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with the coordination of technical activities and designs with personnel in other business units and departments within the local and regional offices.
  • Attend meetings with clients, consultants and contractors to coordinate and supervise various wind related activities.
  • Occasionally visit operational and under construction wind projects as necessary to provide technical support and oversee the work done by contractors, aiming to ensure compliance of the execution according to the design specifications.
  • Assist with other duties that may be assigned.
