Job summary

Job description

We are seeking a highly experienced Wind Turbine Technical Manager to join our project team for utility-scale wind power projects. This role serves as the primary technical authority on-site for all matters relating to wind turbine supply, installation, commissioning, and performance. The Technical Manager works closely with the turbine manufacturer, EPC contractor, and owner's engineering team to ensure turbines are delivered, erected, and commissioned in full compliance with technical specifications, contractual requirements, and industry standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as the primary technical interface between the turbine supplier, EPC contractor, and project owner on all turbine-related technical matters throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review and approve turbine technical documentation including design drawings, installation manuals, foundation load data, interface documents, and commissioning procedures.
• Oversee and manage the turbine supplier's site team during transportation, erection, and commissioning phases, ensuring works are executed in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements.
• Review and comment on foundation design parameters provided by the turbine manufacturer, including tower base interface loads, anchor bolt layout, and embedment ring specifications.
• Monitor turbine component delivery schedules, inspect incoming equipment upon arrival, and manage any technical non-conformances or damage claims with the supplier.
• Evaluate and approve changes to turbine erection methodology, torque specifications, and installation sequences proposed by the supplier's erection team.
• Lead technical troubleshooting and resolution of turbine installation and commissioning issues, coordinating with the manufacturer's engineering support teams as required.
• Review turbine commissioning test reports, power curve test protocols, and grid compliance documentation prior to final acceptance.
• Manage the turbine technical punch list and ensure all outstanding items are closed prior to provisional acceptance certificate (PAC) issuance.
• Support the preparation and negotiation of technical clarifications, variation orders, and warranty claims related to turbine supply and performance.
• Provide technical input into the operations and maintenance handover, including review of O&M manuals, spare parts lists, and training programs for local operations teams.
• Prepare and submit technical reports and turbine performance summaries to the Project Manager and client.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCES

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 8+ years of technical experience in the wind energy industry, with at least 3 years in a senior technical or engineering management role on utility-scale wind farm projects.
• Deep technical knowledge of wind turbine systems including main components (rotor, nacelle, drivetrain, tower, pitch and yaw systems, converter, transformer) and their installation requirements.
• Hands-on experience managing turbine supplier interfaces on EPC or BOP wind farm projects from equipment delivery through to commercial operation.
• Familiarity with major turbine manufacturers and their technical documentation standards (e.g., Vestas, Siemens Gamesa, GE, Goldwind, CSSC, Windey, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of turbine foundation interface requirements, electrical grid connection standards, and SCADA/condition monitoring systems.
• Experience reviewing and approving commissioning procedures, grid compliance tests, and performance acceptance protocols.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with technical data management and document control systems.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues under time pressure.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Based on-site at wind farm construction locations; routine interaction with team mainly from China and local. May involve rotational shifts and extended hours during key project phases.
