Job summary

Emapta is seeking a U.S. Conventional Underwriter with 3-5 years of recent U.S. residential mortgage underwriting experience, including conventional first trust deed loans and appraisal review.

You will bring hands-on Encompass LOS expertise, and a strong command of DU/LPA/LP and Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac guidelines. The role supports a paperless mortgage processing environment with global exposure and permanent WFH flexibility.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of recent U.S. residential mortgage underwriting experience, including conventional first trust deed loans and appraisal review.
• Hands-on proficiency in Encompass LOS with strong working knowledge of DU and LPA/LP.
• At least 1 year of experience in a paperless U.S. mortgage or loan-processing environment.
• Solid command of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines and conventional underwriting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assess loan applications and supporting documents for accuracy, completeness, eligibility, and compliance with applicable guidelines.
• Work closely with Account Management and Funding teams to resolve complex loan scenarios, restructure files, and meet critical deadlines.
• Make underwriting decisions on new submissions, including approvals, suspensions, declines, and counteroffers.
• Provide production teams with technical underwriting guidance and support on loan requirements.
• Review outstanding conditions and complete final approvals within required funding turnaround times.
• Investigate and resolve Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Post-Closing audit findings.
• Maintain responsive service for internal and external stakeholders in accordance with established SLAs.
• Support broader underwriting, team, and management requirements as needed.
