Job summary

Shagang International (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. is seeking a Trade Assistant to support commodity trading operations in iron ore and steel. The role involves handling contract checks, L/Cs, and logistics coordination under the guidance of the trade manager.

The candidate should hold a business diploma or degree, be fluent in Mandarin, and possess strong communication and teamwork skills. Experience in commodities trading is a plus, and the position requires immediate availability.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in business-related field.
• Proficient in Mandarin (spoken and written) to liaise with Mainland China clients and review contracts.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal abilities.
• Experience in commodities trading is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist trade manager to implement signed commodity trading contracts.
• Routine operations: contract checks, L/C issuance, L/C matching, export/import documentation, laytime calculations.
• Coordinate with iron ore/steel operations team to enhance cooperation.
• Manage operational risk and liaise with sales teams.
• Perform any ad-hoc duties assigned by management.
• Knowledge of iron ore/steel trading is a plus.

Job description

Responsibilities:

• To assist trade manager to implement commodity trading contracts signed.
• Routine operation works including Contract checking, Letter of Credit issuance, B2B L/C match, export documentary negotiation, import bill settlement, calculation of laytime, etc.
• Close liaison with the iron ore/steel operation team, enhance cooperation.
• Operational risk management.
• Liaising with the sales teams.
• Any other ad-hoc duties assigned by the management.
• Knowledge of iron ore/steel trading and familiarity with the product specifications is a plus.

Requirements:

• Minimum Diploma / Degree in Business related major.
• Proficient Mandarin in both spoken and written to liaise with client from Mainland China (function as the primary contact person to perform the review on trading contracts and to follow up shipping logistics arrangement).
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Responsible, detail-oriented, and a good team player.
• Experience in commodities trading is preferred.
• Easy going and could work under pressure. Being honest.
• Available to start immediately or on short notice.
