Job summary

UPSG PTE. LTD. is seeking a logistics/trading professional to execute physical trades, manage contract documentation, and coordinate with suppliers and terminals. The role requires strong MS Excel skills, experience with trading/ETRM systems, and the ability to liaise in English and Chinese.

Ideal candidates have a diploma or degree in Logistics/Shipping/Supply Chain and a track record of handling a small team under pressure. Entry level with relevant qualifications are welcome to apply.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Logistics, Shipping or Supply Chain is required.
• Fluency in English and Chinese is mandatory for liaising with associates.
• Proven ability to manage a small team and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with trading/ETRM systems.

Responsibilities

• Execute physical trades by inventory and cargo discharge.
• Capture deal information accurately in trading books.
• Prepare and draft sales and purchase contracts with counterparties.
• Coordinate with suppliers and terminals on vessel clearance and loading plans.
• Coordinate with surveyors and port agents on cargo readiness and vessel movements.
• Calculate demurrage, other costs, and payments.
• Prepare cargo insurance declarations and maintain documentation.
• Perform general document updating and filing.
• Fulfil other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Execute physical trades by performing inventory and cargo discharge

• Ensure deal information is captured accurately and timely in the trading books

• Draft and prepare sales and purchase contract and complete contract documentation with the counterparty

• Liaise with suppliers and terminals regarding vessel clearance and loading plans

• Liaise with surveyors and load port agent on cargo readiness, loading and vessel movements

• Calculate, monitor and counter demurrage claims, other secondary cost and payment

• Calculate and prepare cargo insurance declaration

• Updating and filling of documents

• Any other duties assigned by the manager

Job Holder Requirements

Education

Diploma/Degree in Logistics/Shipping/Supply Chain

Experience

Ideally 2 years of relevant working experience in similar capacity. Entry level candidates with the relevant qualification are welcome to apply too.

Knowledge and skills

• Strong working knowledge of computerized accounting and ETRM systems

• Strong working knowledge of trading PnL and exposure calculations as well as trade finance knowledge on trading

• Good organisational and time management skills

• Able to work in a fast-paced, culturally diverse and team-oriented environment

• Positive work attitude, proactive, detailed and meticulous

• Proven track record managing a small team

• Very proficient in MS Excel

• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and under pressure/tight deadlines

• Excellent communication and presentation skills. Fluency in both English and Chinese (so as to liaise with Chinese speaking associates) is a must

• Able to commit additional working hours if required
