About the role
This is a Facility Maintenance Technician role in a data center environment, responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of critical electrical and mechanical systems. You will perform routine maintenance on generators, transformers, UPS, and other electrical systems, as well as auxiliaries like FDAS, FSS, access control, CCTV, HVAC systems, pumps, blowers, and other electro-mechanical support equipment. You will diagnose and repair equipment failures, conduct daily monitoring of equipment performance, and respond to emergency calls as needed in a 24/7 operational environment.
Key responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance on generators, transformers, UPS, and other electrical systems to prevent malfunctions
- Diagnose and repair equipment failures involving generator sets, AC units, pumps, motor controls, and auxiliary systems
- Conduct daily monitoring of equipment performance, including load monitoring of electrical distribution systems and checking temperatures and water levels in tanks
- Use knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and robotic systems to diagnose and resolve issues with complex machinery
- Utilize hand tools and power tools to repair or rebuild defective parts in electrical devices and mechanical equipment
- Create and maintain maintenance records, track changes to equipment, and prepare documentation for reports
- Adhere to strict safety protocols, security procedures, and operational standards of the data center
- Be prepared to work extended hours and respond to emergency calls to provide extra manpower coverage when necessary
About you
- High School Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's in IT, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering preferred
- Vocational graduates of TESDA NC II in Mechatronics, Electrical Installation, or RAC (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) are highly eligible for entry-level roles
- Entry-level: 1–2 years Facility and data center operations, or IT support
- Mid-level: 3–5 years in mission-critical infrastructure monitoring, with escalation and analysis responsibilities
- Strong understanding of both electrical and mechanical principles and systems
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics to understand equipment functionality
- Proficient in using precise measuring instruments to inspect and test equipment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Effective communication skills to report site situations, collaborate with IT teams, and provide guidance to other technicians
- Capable of performing physical tasks associated with maintenance and repair of equipment, including lifting equipment up to 50 lbs. (23 kg) and standing for long durations
- Journeyman Electrician license or HVAC/Refrigeration license often required
- Understanding of N+1 and 2N redundancy architectures and ability to work on a live system without dropping the load
- Mastery of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and NFPA 70E (Arc Flash) safety standards
- Knowledge of fiber (Single mode/multi-mode) and copper (Cat6) standards and termination techniques
- Willingness to work in a 24/7/365 environment, which often includes night shifts, weekends, and holidays
