Job summary

Job description

Job Description
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on generators, transformers, UPS, and other electrical systems, auxiliaries like FDAS, FSS, access control, CCTV’s, HVAC systems, pumps, blowers, and other electro-mechanical support equipment to prevent malfunctions.
  • Corrective Maintenance: Diagnose and repair equipment failures, which may involve working with generator sets, AC units, pumps, and motor controls and all electrical systems such as generators, transformers, UPS, etc. and other auxiliary systems like CCTV, FSS, FDAS, Access Control, etc.
  • Equipment Monitoring: Conduct daily monitoring of equipment performance, including load monitoring of electrical distribution systems and checking temperatures and water levels in tanks.
  • Troubleshooting: Use knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and robotic systems to diagnose and resolve issues with complex machinery.
  • Repairs: Utilize hand tools and power tools to repair or rebuild defective parts in electrical devices and mechanical equipment.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain maintenance records, track changes to equipment, and prepare documentation for reports.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols, security procedures, and operational standards of the data center.
  • 24/7 Support: Be prepared to work extended hours and respond to emergency calls to provide extra manpower coverage when necessary.
Qualifications
  • Technical Knowledge: Possess a strong understanding of both electrical and mechanical principles and systems.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics to understand equipment functionality.
  • Precision Measurement: Proficient in using precise measuring instruments to inspect and test equipment.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills to report site situations, collaborate with IT teams, and provide guidance to other technicians.
  • Physical Stamina: Capable of performing physical tasks associated with maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to work in a 24/7 environment and respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Certifications: A vocational diploma or relevant short course certificate in a technical field is often required.
Education
  • High School Diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s in IT, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Vocational: Graduates of TESDA NC II in Mechatronics, Electrical Installation, or RAC (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) are highly eligible for entry-level roles.
Experience
  • Entry-Level: 1–2 years Facility and data center operations, or IT support.
  • Mid-Level: 3–5 years in mission-critical infrastructure monitoring, with escalation and analysis responsibilities.
Technical Skills
  • Electrical/Mechanical Trade: Often requires a Journeyman Electrician license or an HVAC/Refrigeration license.
  • Knowledge of Redundancy: Understanding of N+1 and 2N redundancy architectures (knowing how to work on a live system without dropping the load).
  • Safety Protocols: Mastery of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) and NFPA 70E (Arc Flash) safety standards.
  • Cabling Standards: Knowledge of fiber (Single mode/multi-mode) and copper (Cat6) standards and termination techniques.
Soft Skills
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs. (23 kg) and stand for long durations.
  • Troubleshooting: A methodical approach to "root cause analysis"—finding out why something broke, not just fixing it.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to work in a 24/7/365 environment, which often includes night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Certifications (Optional)
  • PRC License: Most top-tier facilities prefer a Registered Electrical Engineer (REE) or Registered Mechanical Engineer (RME) (+)
  • Data Center Certified Professional (CDCP) or similar.
