Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• 5–8 years of professional experience in systems engineering or related area.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid infra.
• Scripting skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation and admin tasks.
• Solid networking, security concepts, and architecture principles.
• Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible).
• Excellent problem-solving and documentation abilities; clear communicator.
• Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or Azure Administrator are valued.
• Mentoring or training junior staff is a plus.

Responsibilities

About the role

De Castro Consulting is seeking a Systems Engineer (Level 2/3) to join our engineering team in Makati City, Metro Manila. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems infrastructure. As a Systems Engineer at this level, you will bridge the gap between junior technical staff and senior leadership, taking on greater responsibility for system architecture decisions whilst continuing to develop your expertise in systems engineering practices. This role is essential to ensuring our clients receive robust, scalable, and reliable system solutions that meet their operational and business requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement system architectures for medium to large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security
• Conduct system assessments and performance analysis to identify optimisation opportunities and potential risks
• Develop technical documentation, including system specifications, architecture diagrams, and standard operating procedures
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software developers, network engineers, and project managers to integrate systems effectively
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineering staff on systems engineering best practices
• Troubleshoot complex system issues and implement sustainable solutions to prevent future occurrences
• Manage system upgrades, migrations, and deployments whilst minimising downtime and business disruption
• Monitor system performance and capacity planning to ensure infrastructure meets current and future organisational needs
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of engineering standards and processes

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline
• 5-8 years of professional experience in systems engineering, infrastructure design, or a related technical field
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and hybrid infrastructure solutions
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and system administration tasks
• Solid understanding of networking protocols, security frameworks, and system architecture principles
• Experience with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Ansible)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
• Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Administrator, or similar are highly valued
• Experience mentoring or training junior technical staff would be advantageous
