Qualifications

• 3–5 years in systems administration, IT operations, or network administration with documentation duties.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting or automation language such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code concepts and tools.
• Excellent technical writing for diverse audiences.
• Familiarity with IT service management frameworks such as ITIL is desirable.
• Knowledge of Git and documentation management tools.

About the role

De Castro Consulting is seeking a Systems Documentation & Automation Specialist to join our growing technology team. This is a full-time position based in Makati City, Metro Manila, where you will play a crucial role in streamlining our IT infrastructure through comprehensive documentation and intelligent automation solutions. This position is essential to ensuring our systems operate efficiently, securely, and with minimal manual intervention. You will work on-site to collaborate directly with our technical teams and stakeholders.

What you’ll be doing

• Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive technical documentation for IT systems, infrastructure, applications, and processes to ensure clarity and accessibility for all technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Design and implement automation solutions to streamline repetitive IT tasks, reduce manual errors, and improve operational efficiency across network and systems environments

• Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and runbooks for system administration, troubleshooting, and disaster recovery processes

• Collaborate with systems administrators, network engineers, and other IT professionals to understand current workflows and identify automation opportunities

• Develop scripts and automation tools using industry-standard languages and platforms to enhance system performance and reduce operational overhead

• Ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible through centralised knowledge management systems

• Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and provide training to IT staff on new documentation standards and automated processes

• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of automation implementations, making recommendations for improvements and optimisations

• Support the implementation of IT service management best practices and compliance requirements through thorough documentation

What we’re looking for

• 3-5 years of experience in systems administration, IT operations, or network administration roles with exposure to documentation responsibilities

• Proficiency in at least one scripting or automation language such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar tools

• Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) concepts and tools, or demonstrated ability to learn them quickly

• Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise documentation suitable for various audiences

• Experience with configuration management tools, monitoring systems, or IT automation platforms

• Knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) frameworks such as ITIL is highly desirable

• Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and documentation management tools

• Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy

• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with capability to work effectively across teams

• Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify inefficiencies and propose practical solutions

• CompTIA A+, Network+, or relevant IT certification is preferred but not mandatory
