AT A GLANCE (OVERVIEW)

The Customs Clearance Assistant Manager plays a pivotal role in providing leadership and overseeing day-to-operations related to international shipments, including imports and exports. This position requires a focus on team management, strategic coordination, and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.

YOUR OVERALL MISSION & DAY-TO-DAY
Customs Compliance & Documentation Management
  • Lead import and export customs clearance activities in compliance with Bureau of Customs regulations and company policies.

  • Review and ensure accuracy of customs documents, shipment records, classifications, and regulatory requirements.

  • Manage customs-related concerns, including shipment of holds, documentation gaps, and compliance issues.

  • Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure complete and timely submission of required documents.

  • Maintain and improve customs procedures, controls, and documentation standards.

Shipment Operations & Exception Management
  • Oversee end-to-end monitoring of inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring timely clearance and delivery.

  • Coordinate shipment bookings, freight schedules, and delivery arrangements with forwarders, brokers, and internal stakeholders.

  • Monitor shipment status, clearance of progress, and potential risks to proactively address delays.

  • Lead resolution of shipment exceptions, including port holds, missing documents, and operational disruptions.

  • Manage forwarder and broker performance to ensure service quality and operational efficiency.

Duties, Taxes & Landed Cost Optimization
  • Oversee processing and validation of duties, taxes, brokerage fees, and other import-related charges

  • Identify opportunities to optimize landed costs through shipment planning, tariff classification review, and trade practices.

  • Partner with Finance and Supply Chain teams on cost-saving and cost-avoidance initiatives.

  • Review logistics, partner rates and performance to improve cost efficiency.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance customs processes and operational effectiveness.

YOUR TALENT (QUALIFICATIONS)
  • Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Business Management, or a related field.

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in customs clearance or a comparable field.

  • Proven experience in international coordination, logistics management, and successful collaboration with forwarders.

  • Expertise in International Trade and Export Management.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, coupled with excellent communication, teamwork, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office; SAP proficiency is a distinct advantage.
