The Project In-Charge for Mechanical Works is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and managing all air-conditioning and mechanical installation activities at the construction site. The role ensures that HVAC works are executed in accordance with approved plans, technical specifications, safety standards, and project timelines while maintaining quality and cost efficiency.
Project Planning & Execution
- Supervise and manage all on-site air-conditioning and mechanical works
- Ensure HVAC installations comply with approved mechanical drawings, specifications, and shop drawings
- Review plans, technical submittals, and method statements prior to execution
- Coordinate installation schedules with the overall construction program
Site Supervision & Coordination
- Supervise mechanical engineers, foremen, technicians, and subcontractors
- Assign daily tasks and monitor progress of HVAC works
- Coordinate with civil, architectural, electrical, and plumbing teams to avoid conflicts
- Attend coordination meetings with consultants and clients
Quality Control & Testing
- Ensure proper installation of air-conditioning units, ductworks, piping, insulation, and accessories
- Conduct inspections, pressure testing, leak testing, flushing, and commissioning activities
- Ensure compliance with manufacturer standards and project quality requirements
- Address and rectify punch list items related to mechanical works
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety rules and regulations during mechanical installation works
- Ensure workers follow safety procedures and use proper PPE
- Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety standards, and mechanical regulations
Materials, Tools & Equipment Management
- Monitor delivery, storage, and proper handling of HVAC materials and equipment
- Prepare material requisitions and ensure availability based on project schedule
- Prevent material damage, loss, and wastage
Cost Control & Documentation
- Monitor mechanical work costs and manpower utilization
- Prepare daily reports, progress reports, and accomplishment reports
- Coordinate with procurement and billing teams for material requests and progress billings
- Review subcontractor billing and accomplishments
Testing, Commissioning & Turnover
- Oversee testing, balancing, commissioning, and startup of air-conditioning systems
- Ensure proper turnover of mechanical systems including as-built drawings, manuals, and warranties
- Coordinate training and orientation for client/end-user operation and maintenance teams
