Job summary

BruntWork is seeking an experienced Senior Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, month-end close, cash management, and compliance. The role emphasizes strong QBO skills, multi-entity handling, and robust management reporting across entities.

The successful candidate will lead the accounting team, improve processes, ensure ASC 606 compliance, and coordinate with CPAs and auditors. This is a remote opportunity with on-demand collaboration across time zones.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience at Controller/Accounting Manager level or similar.
• Strong hands-on QuickBooks Online experience.
• Proven multi-entity accounting and consolidation experience.
• Deep knowledge of month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and GL accounting.
• Experience with ASC 606 and revenue cutoff.
• Experience with inventory, COGS, AP/AR, payroll, and sales tax compliance.
• Experience leading and developing accounting staff.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, cutoffs, and financial statements.
• Manage QBO, including cleanup, error correction, system reconciliation, and process improvements.
• Oversee multi-entity accounting, consolidations, intercompany transactions, eliminations, and due-to/due-from accounts.
• Ensure proper revenue recognition and ASC 606 compliance, including shipment and delivery cutoffs.
• Oversee inventory, COGS, WIP, receiving/shipping cutoffs, and inventory-to-GL reconciliations.
• Manage AP/AR, collections, vendor payments, cash management, bank reconciliations, and short-term cash forecasting.
• Oversee payroll accounting, reconciliations, liabilities, allocations, and accruals.
• Manage sales tax compliance, filings, registrations, exemptions, and coordination with tax providers.
• Prepare P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and management reports and analyze variances.
• Lead, review, and develop the accounting team, ensuring accuracy and timely deliverables.
• Strengthen internal controls, SOPs, approval workflows, and accounting processes.
• Coordinate with CPAs, tax advisors, auditors, banks, payroll providers, and external partners.
