Job summary

Veriff is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Trust team, shaping backend services that validate identity data against country-specific sources. You will contribute to onboarding new countries and data providers, turning diverse upstreams into a dependable trust signal for customers.

You will design resilient, scalable APIs, own production services, and collaborate with Product, Compliance, and data providers to ensure accurate identity verification worldwide.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building large-scale backend applications with Python.
• Hands-on experience integrating with third-party APIs at scale.
• Proven ownership of production-critical services and on-call readiness.
• Deep experience designing for resilience in distributed systems.
• Strong data modelling instincts for heterogeneous external data.
• Familiarity with modular design and SOLID principles.

Responsibilities

• Designing, building, and operating Trust's backend services with focus on reliability and maintainability.
• Expanding global coverage by onboarding new countries and data sources.
• Modeling messy upstream data into clean verification results with robust rules.
• Ensuring resilience to upstreams via timeouts, retries, backpressure, and idempotency.
• Handling sensitive personal data with regional data residency and compliance from the start.
• Participating in on-call rotations, incident response, and postmortems to keep checks healthy.
• Driving engineering quality through code reviews, CI, and mentoring teammates.
